INT. JOSEPH MOORE'S HOUSE - DAY
JOSEPH MOORE, a 21-year-old that still lives with his mother, a 78-year-old that is suffering with the last stage of lung cancer that she had in the last five years after she broke up with JOSEPH's father (CHARLES MOORE), who was a strong smoker, automatically makes his wife a secondhand smoker. At roughly 9:15 AM, JOSEPH is doing like what he was doing everyday—taking care of his mother and giving her some meds before a message was sent to him: His phone vibrated, and before long, he took his phone and checked it. We see that he's very messed up right now. Two dark circles orbiting his eyes because of his insomniac behaviors of taking care of his mom, and any other more.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM (Through her phone)
can you meet me at 11 later?
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM (Through her phone, following up)
at the usual place, ofc
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM (Through her phone, JOSEPH just opened his phone when this was coming)
I have something to talk about.
JOSEPH MOORE (Typing)
I'm not sure
JOSEPH MOORE then deleted the message, and instead wrote:
JOSEPH MOORE (Typing, later would be sent)
I'll be there.
MATCH CUT TO:
INT. JOSEPH MOORE'S HOUSE - DAY
He's now ready, but... something out of place happened. His mother is low on meds, and needs a new one. He's considering it, and after a long time contemplating, he finally decided to buy her some meds before he saw KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM. And before long, we saw him in her mother's bedroom.
JOSEPH MOORE
Mom? I'll be back in a bit, okay?
JOSEPH'S MOTHER (faint)
Be careful...
JOSEPH MOORE
I will.
JOSEPH MOORE faintly smiles before closing his mother's bedroom door softly.
EXT. ROAD - DAY
We then saw him walking to the pharmacy he always bought his meds from, and it took him almost 15 minutes to ride with his bicycle. The weight of his life makes him drop his tears on his cheeks, feeling burdened, but instead regretful if he won't do it.
INT. PHARMACY - DAY
Not long after, he got to the place. It was quiet like usual except for the quiet 90's songs played there. He then goes to the pharmacist.
JOSEPH MOORE
Like usual, please. (Sighed)
PHARMACIST (handed him a bottle of a specific med tablets)
Another shortage?
JOSEPH MOORE (nodding, then hands the PHARMACIST 54$)
Just a few days' worth
PHARMACIST (shaking her head)
These companies... Trying to squeeze every penny out of people who need it most.
JOSEPH MOORE (nodding solemnly)
It's a burden, no doubt.
PHARMACIST
Take care, Joseph. And best wishes to your mother.
JOSEPH nods gratefully, smiling slightly, taking the medication and leaving the pharmacy. As he rides back home, his mind races with thoughts about his impending meeting with Kristina and the weight of his responsibilities caring for his mother.
CUT TO:
EXT. PARK - DAY
Joseph arrives at the park, the usual meeting spot with Kristina. He spots her sitting on a bench, her expression serious as she waits. Joseph takes a deep breath, steeling himself for the conversation ahead, before walking over to her.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM
Hey Joseph, where have you been? You were supposed to meet me an hour ago! You left me waiting.
JOSEPH MOORE (sighing)
Sorry... I... My mom had a rough time so I should be on her side, y'know? I'm truly sorry.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM takes a deep breath, her gaze shifting away momentarily before returning to Joseph's.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM
Right, it's always about your mom... you always take her side on everything. Don't you care about me at all?
JOSEPH MOORE (finally breaking out)
Just... It's... (Sobbing, then looks away) man, what the fuck?
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM
Oh wow, now you're sobbing and everything. Well let's talk about this later when you're not being such an emotional wuss.
JOSEPH MOORE continues crying, and looks away from her face, avoiding eye contact and further communication. He stands like that silently.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM
I'm serious. I can't do this anymore.
JOSEPH MOORE (nodding)
...go... Just go... It's been great... to be on your side.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM
Yeah right. Go cry to your mom. Just make sure to tell her that you ruined this two years worth of relationship by being an ungrateful piece of crap.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM walks away, leaving JOSEPH MOORE in tears. His body slowly got weaker, and at one point, he then sat against the wall behind him, now hiding his face in his hands, like a scavenger waiting for people to throw coins at me. KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM continues to walk away, now with guilt. JOSEPH MOORE throws the medicine far to the road, crushed by a car, and scattered all over the place. JOSEPH sees it, gets up, and walks away in a rather depressive face.
EXT. JOSEPH MOORE'S HOUSE - ONE DAY AFTER
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM, coated by guilt, walks to JOSEPH's front door and knocks it. But no answer. She tries to knock it again, but she instead hears JOSEPH's intense crying coming from inside his house. She panics, and opens the door slowly before getting to the source of the sound.
INT. JOSEPH MOORE'S HOUSE - DAY
We see that (tracking shot) she walked to the source of the sound and she found JOSEPH and... his mother, that is laying on the bed, motionless and pale. JOSEPH MOORE is there, but is unresponsive because of the guilt he had, he's crying louder than KRISTINA ever heard of him crying, and he can't be helped anymore. JOSEPH'S MOTHER passed away because of JOSEPH forgot that the medicine were already empty and goes to bed, with a broken heart. He woke up at five in the morning with her mother already pale and cold. KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM contemplates if she should help him or not, and after some time, she opens the door and hugs him. But instead of him hugging her back, he pushes her and says:
JOSEPH MOORE
Fuck... fuck off! Get off of me!
KRISTINA is shocked, and recoiled as he pushed her. She thinks that after everything has happened, he's "still" harsh for her. But in reality, he is not who he once was. He's already coated with guilt and sadness so much that he started tearing his sanity apart and JOSEPH is now just a living trauma. JOSEPH looks at KRISTINA with a fearful, angry, and betrayed eyes, before he pulls himself against the wall, still crying.
JOSEPH MOORE (Repeatedly, over and over again)
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
But KRISTINA doesn't know that, and instead gave him a painful slap that left a mark in his cheeks. JOSEPH is still saying:
JOSEPH MOORE (Repeatedly, over and over again)
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
Now KRISTINA realizes that she slapped him in this rough time of JOSEPH. She's now being too selfish, but at the same time, she thinks that JOSEPH is in the wrong here. Not long after, JOSEPH bangs his head on the rough surface of his wall, and bangs his head literally on top of the sharp side of a nail that once just left there. He's still repeating:
JOSEPH MOORE (Repeatedly, over and over again)
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
KRISTINA gasps, now feeling pure guilty out of it. She runs towards him and immediately hugs him, letting him cry on her shoulder. It's a painful experience, but she's providing an open arms for him. Blood is now pouring out freely to her shoulder, and she knows she gotta do something for him—anything that she had on her mind, she did it.
KRISTINA SÖDERSTRÖM (Panicking)
I'll take care of you (breaks the embrace) just, please wait.
INT. DOWNSTAIRS - DAY
KRISTINA then runs to the first aid box, searching anything she could found. A bandaid, small wound aid, and a cloth that is somehow in there. The other aids were all scattered in the floor out of her panicking and searching for those as fast as she could. The tension is high, but the release is... well, let's just say it's not going well. KRISTINA is still searching for more—the meds she taking isn't enough, she needs more meds for him. But, it'll be for a void. JOSEPH MOORE shot himself with a Tokarev handgun, and the sound of the gunshot can be heard to the outside. KRISTINA's panic grows even more as she hears it, but when she realizes that JOSEPH is now no more, she stumbled back, and her body goes limp.
AUDIO MATCH CUT TO:
EXT. JOSEPH MOORE'S HOUSE - SEVERAL HOURS LATER
Ambulance and police sirens can be heard from the distance, and two officers are at the scene. They're now questioning KRISTINA in the front yard of JOSEPH's house. There's also some reporters hover nearby, capturing the scene, but she kept her mouth shut, already feeling the guilt JOSEPH had had. There's multiple flashes coming at her face, but she stays silent.
REPORTER 01 (ignoring the shouted questions from the other reporters)
Can you tell us in what reason you got to Joseph's house in the first place?
REPORTER 02 (shouting over reporter 01)
Kristina, can you tell us your side of the story?
REPORTER 03 (ignoring the others, completely off base)
Did you kill him?
REPORTER 04
Kristina, what happened?
Other reporters were asking the same questions over and over again, but she's now completely lost in her thoughts. She had a pale face, clearly shocked and had a traumatic face—exactly the same as JOSEPH's face earlier in the day. Slowly zoom in to her depressive face, with an overlapping sounds of the reporters and the sirens. It's chaotic, to say the least...
